If you’re staying home more often due to the COVID-19 outbreak, you’re probably craving for the food that you usually eat when dining out.

While you can surely order food delivery, there are measures you should take for your safety and for the sake of the delivery guys as well.

Isn’t it Safe to Order Chicken Delivery?

There’s currently no evidence that the COVID-19 can be transmitted through food. Therefore, you don’t have to worry too much about a sick chef transmitting the virus to your food, particularly when it’s cooked.

However, what you have to worry about is that the virus is known to live for days on the surface, thus, if a sick person sneezes on your food after it’s cooked or on its packaging, there might be some risk.

Precautionary Measures to Take When Ordering Food Delivery

• Practice social distancing. Avoid meeting the food courier in person. There are many food delivery services today that offer schemes to help limit in-person contact such as the option to leave your delivery at your doorstep.

• Request to leave food on your doorstep. In case these options are not available from your favourite chicken rice place, you can always request to have the food left on a designated place.

• Throw out the packaging.  Because there’s the risk of the food packaging getting contaminated by the virus, it’s best if you discard it as soon as possible. It’s probably better to avoid using the utensils that came with it.

• Wash your hands. Always, always wash your hands before eating. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

• Tip well. Delivery workers should be considered frontliners as they put themselves at risk just to deliver food to your doorsteps. Make sure to tip them well as a way of thank you for their hard work.
